Over the Knee Boots | Outfit Inspo

Fashion

Hello, Damsels!

Can you believe how warm the weather has been this fall?! Check out the outfit that M put together, it is a perfect way to combine your summer and fall wardrobe! What fall fashion trends have you been loving  lately?

I am so so sooo happy over the knee boots are in style again this fall/winter. I bought these from Forever 21 last fall and I was very excited to create some fun new outfits with them. There are so many ways to style over the knee boots. You can wear them with jeans, a cute dress or skirt, or you can try out what I am sharing with you all today; with shorts! I wore this crop top and black flowy shorts a lot this summer and after seeing some of my fashion inspirations on Instagram pair over the knee boots with shorts, I knew I had to give it a try. I am in LOVE with this look. I chose a very neutral color palette but I am thinking about adding a different color hat for a pop of color the next time I decide to wear this outfit. This adorable fuzzy vest cardigan is extremely comfy. I found it at Fortuity a while back so it is no longer available but I tried my best to find a similar style for you all.Overall, I absolutely adore the way this outfit came together. Many of the items I am wearing are no longer available or I could not find the exact piece but be sure to check out all the links for similar styles for all the items I wore!

Young and Hungry | Candy Corn Hugs

Food

Hello Damsels!

It’s October, which means Halloween is coming up very soon! If you are planning on going to any Halloween parties or just feel like making a tasty snack, J & M have the perfect recipe that is salty and sweet! The great thing about this recipe is that you can change the ingredients to your favorite candy. For this particular recipe, we used candy corn and Hershey Hugs. Instead of candy corn you can use M&Ms or your favorite candy or nuts. A few other great substitutes for the Hershey Hugs are any of your favorite Hershey Kiss flavors or even Rolos (these taste amazing with pecans on top!). We hope you enjoy this quick and easy fall snack recipe! Let us know what other ways you have made these!

Candy Corn Pretzel Hugs

What you’ll need:

Pretzels

Hershey Hugs

Candy Corn

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and place pretzels on the sheet.
  3. Unwrap your Hershey Hugs and place one on top of each pretzel.
  4. Place baking sheet into oven for 3-4 minutes or until the chocolate starts to soften.
  5. Once you take the baking sheet out of the oven, place a candy corn on top of each hug and gently press it down into the chocolate.
  6. Let the candy corn pretzel hugs cool in the fridge or freezer until the chocolate has hardened again.

These are the perfect snack to suffice both your sweet tooth and your salty cravings. Enjoy!

Jean Dress + Cold Shoulder | Outfit Inspo

Fashion

Hello, Damsels!

J is back with an OOTD that’s perfect for transitioning into to this beautiful fall weather. Be sure to comment below what trends are you excited for this season!

This jean dress is everything. It makes me feel like a grown up, child. And what could be so wrong about that? I bought this dress a few weeks ago, but it’s no where to be seen on Forever 21’s site, but I linked a few similar ones below for the same look. Throw on a classic striped, long sleeve shirt with cold shoulder details and some fierce pointy toe booties with a little added sass from the western hardware and you’ve got yourself the cutest outfit for day or night. The next time you pull out this dress to wear, add some tights with a cropped sweater and you’ll have an even cozier outfit with same staple piece. The options are endless and anyone can pull it off! PSA – get yourself to Target for these booties. They are super comfortable and can be dressed up or down! They’ve stolen my shoe heart.

Army Green + Jean Skirt | Outfit Inspo

Fashion

Hello, Damsels!

J is here to share with you the perfect outfit to transition from the steamy summer sweat to the crisp fall breeze!

If I was a season, hands down, no questions asked, I would be autumn. If I has the powers of Mother Nature, it would be fall all year round. Unless we are at the beach, then it can be warm. But we are not, we are in Missouri. I crave it all. The refreshing air with the warmth of the sun still lingering. The smell of changing leaves and pumpkin bread. The cozy sweaters and deep, jewel tone hues. It is impossible to not be happy this time of year. And if you are not happy, come hang out with me. Year after year, fall continues to remind me of the never-ending changes in my life. Yes, it sounds incredibly scary, but it is a beautiful thing to experience and have the ability to take hold of during my “adulting” journey. A reminder to embrace change. To not hold onto those little things bring you down. To chase something exciting. Cliche, I know. But seriously, look outside! It’s too beautiful to be scared!

With change, comes transitional wardrobe pieces. This outfit has it all. Starting off with your basic white tank and bralette, paired with a button up jean skirt. I found this one a Nordstrom Rack which has a little extra sass with the studding around the pockets. As it gets cooler, you can totally put on a pair of tights and chunky socks to keep warm. Remember army green this season. It’s the “it” color so this cardigan is super versatile. Since fall is just about to peak through, this provided a little more warmth, but still let me breath when the sun was out. Pair it with a long sleeve white top, high-waisted black jeans and you’ll have yourself a cozy outfit for a chillier day. And of course, the staple black bootie. Did I mention why I love fall?

Body Suit | Fall Outfit Inspo

Fashion, OOTD

Hello Damsels!

Fall is finally here and we are so excited! J & M have a lot of fun ideas for the blog this fall and we cannot wait to share them with you all! Fall fashion is one of our favorites. There are so many ways to utilize summer and winter clothes into your fall wardrobe since the weather is (usually) the perfect temperature for being able to wear sweaters, scarves and cozy clothes.

If I find an off the shoulder bodysuit, I MUST have it. These are two of my favorite trends right now! I found this bodysuit online from American Eagle a few months ago and I am obsessed! It is super comfortable and it is easy to dress up or wear it casual. It appears to no longer be on their website so I went ahead and linked a few similar bodysuits. Bodysuits are very in right now so it is not hard at all to find one. There are some extremely cute ones at Forever 21 right now! My goal for fall/winter is to branch out from my typical neutral color wardrobe and start bringing in more pops of color. Since I have been loving bodysuits lately I want to try and find a few with fun colors or designs.

I have never been a fan of jeans because I don’t find them very comfortable. However, I have grown to love American Eagle’s Super Hi-Rise jeans. They hit at the perfect spot on my waist so they are extremely flattering. I have had fun pairing different crop tops and bodysuits with these jeans. Choker necklaces are another one of my faves right now. I love how a 90’s trend is back in style. They give outfits a fun, sassy vibe that I absolutely adore! I wish I still had some of my chokers from back in the day, but unfortunately those are long gone now.

We hope you gain some inspiration from M’s outfit for your fall wardrobe! Happy Fall!

Boho Chic | Bell Sleeves

Fashion, Uncategorized

Hello Damsels!

Can you believe we are already halfway through July? Seriously, where is summer going? J&M had a fun weekend running around KC. We went to t.Loft on the Plaza for the first time and we absolutely loved it. It is decorated with a very simple yet aesthetically pleasing. It is the perfect spot to study or just hang out with some friends. The food and coffee are superb! M has a darling look to share with you all today for some outfit inspiration. Enjoy!

I purchased this top from T.J.Maxx last fall and it somehow got lost in my closet because I recently found it again and I am so glad I did! This shirt is light weight, so I did not feel too hot wearing it in the middle of summer. I have found that most bell sleeve tops tend to be made of flowy, lighter material making them perfect for almost every season. I love finding pieces to add to my wardrobe that are versatile and can be worn year round. You could easily pair this top with some jeans and cute boots in the fall or winter.

When I paired this outfit with my floppy hat, I definitely felt some American Horror Story fashion vibes! I’m not quite sure what made me feel that, but I’m not complaining, AHS has some pretty spectacular fashions going on.

One of my favorite things to do is find new ways to wear clothes I have not worn in a while. It’s fun to mix and match your older pieces with new accessories and other clothing. You can easily get 4 or 5 outfits out of just one shirt! These sandals go with almost everything. I bought them a couple years ago from Addie Rose Boutique in Leawood, KS and oh my gosh you guys, I am obsessed! I have worn them so many times yet they still look brand new! And guess what?? They are under $50 and they are still available on Qupid! I am pretty sure I have worn them before in a few older post and expect to see them again because I am in LOVE with them!

Bring it Back to Basics| Outfit of the Day

Fashion

Hello, Damsels!

Hope you have been enjoying our latest posts! Can you believe we have been blogging for one year now?!? It has been so much fun being with your best friend creating content you are passionate about and having a creative outlet to share with others!

J is back with another style inspo to let you know the basic pieces you need your wardrobe! Be sure to follow our blog Instagram (@damselseatingdonuts) for more pictures and updates on what we have been doing!

First year out of college. First professional job out of college. First time paying my own rent. First time having to decide if I actually need 200 cable channels. Life was so simple until I was out living on my own trying to learn to “adult” (still working on it). Not going to lie, the first thing where my paycheck goes is my closet or home decor. Next thing I know, I don’t have money for food the rest of the month (but at least I will have cute outfits and an adorable apartment, right?). I probably don’t need another throw blanket for my bed or couch because I already have four. I definitely shouldn’t have bought five different throw pillows for my bed, only to end up on the floor. But thank goodness I bought a coffee maker so I would stop going across the street to the ever so convenient bakery each morning. “Adulting” has started to teach me one big lesson, keep it simple. Make do with what you have, buy what you only NEED. And yes, I’m still learning.

J’s style tip: buy your basics and mix it up.

This outfit has all of your staple pieces, with fun trends that won’t go out of style or break your wallet. For starters, everyone absolutely needs a basic white tee. This one is incredibly comfortable and does not cling to you on those hot summer days. The detail around the neck line adds a little sass and personality however you style it. I promise you, a plain white top is your closet’s best friend. Another perfect piece every closet needs is a light wash pair of jeans for summer. Surprisingly, I found these at Old Navy and the fit is absolutely perfect. There’s always great sales going on, like $20 jeans, so definitely wait for these days and stock up! And seriously you guys, how can you go wrong with a black fringe purse? You cannot. It goes with every outfit you will wear this summer (even fall). Once you have your basic pieces, add in a fun bralette like the one I wore and slip on some fun sandals. A few days later, you could pair the shirt with a knee length, pleated skirt and some chunky heeled sandals for a completely different vibe. Multiple looks, same great basic pieces.

Find links to everything blow, including shoes and bralette!

Beauty Trends: Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick

Beauty

Hello, Damsels!

I’m sure you’ve heard of the recent lip trend, matte liquid lipsticks. We are obsessed. Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks make this trend 10x better because of the incredible quality you get from the super affordable price. Don’t get us wrong, there are some great high end lippies out there which we love, but these Colourpop lippies are comparable to those super expensive brands so how could you not want to buy every single color?

Colourpop also has a ton of other products, from contour and highlighting sticks, eye shadows, lip pencils, eye lines, etc., the list goes on and on. These are all definitely things you need in your everyday make-up kit, especially the lippies!
